Before a vaccine is ever recommended for use, it’s first tested in labs which can take several years. Once that process is completed, you have to get licensed by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) as well by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Then, a clinical trial takes place which is where 20 to 100 healthy volunteers sign up to get the vaccine tested on them. This trial then expands to be tested on a far larger audience of participants. Even after being approved it continues to be tested. Whichever manufacturing company formulated the vaccine has to make sure the vaccine is potent, pure, and sterile from any outside germs and bacteria. After that, the FDA reviews the test results and undergoes a thorough inspection of the manufacturing facility where the vaccine was made. This makes sure the vaccine is safe for use and is effective. Finally, vaccines are shipped to clinics and other medical bases for use and monitoring. Still, the FDA continues to monitor the manufacturing facilities and checkover production activities. This process continues until the companies license expires.
