Chapter Nine: Unwholesome Waters
The Deepwater Horizon spilled over four million barrels of oil into the Gulf of Mexico. These oil companies learned they are far from being prepared for accidents such as this. Even though, this killed copious amounts of marine life, boats and other water vessels powered by fossil fuels kill more marine life each year with the chemical they leave in the water. Why not stop using oil? Money would be the deciding factor. Organic pollution ingested by the bottom of the food chain is another issue, because it gets passed up the food chain. They are finding high levels of these contaminants in the Bottlenose Dolphins and the dolphin’s first offspring are dying at alarming rates. Mercury is causing similar problems with birds. For example, birds are having less hatchlings. Even, pharmaceuticals are becoming for marine life.
In this chapter I am coming to realize man is kind of evil. How many different ways are we destroying the planet and life on it? They are countless I am starting to see. All the odds are stacked against all life.

Many of these airborne spores come from plants and fungi. Disease epidemics have killed countless marine life around the world. Some of these epidemics happen naturally and others occur because of man. Can these outbreaks be related to stress? After all, stress cause the immune system to be more attractive to disease. One disease that has wiped out seal population a few times is canine distemper. Subsequently, toxic pesticides are breaking down immune systems in marine life. Injured animals are more susceptible and climate changes warming waters do not help matters either. In addition, warming waters cause stress on marine life adding to their
