Thesis: The most American thing you can do is attend a football game.
Going to a football game is one of the most unifying experiences for a person to have in America. At a football game, there’s always a strong sense of unity in the crowd of fans. At times is almost overwhelming to see how friendly people can be to each other. Unity is one of the founding ideals that made America such a great country. It has always been very popular in America as seen in “The America I Believe In” article. He hopes you are having a good time, he hopes you are learning all about us. He said it's on him."(Colin Powell). This is a really great example of the aspect of unity in America. The manager could’ve made the students pay for their food, but instead he wanted them to see America’s true colors of unity. Just like at a football game the crowd is unified together while cheering for their hometown team. The people in the crowd are ready to help if the team asks for anything. Another example why unity at a football game is so important to Americans is in “I hear America Singing”. This poem illustrates the working class of America united together. In the poem, there is one line where it says, “Each singing what belongs to him or her and to none else,” (Whitman). This quote is explaining the fact that no matter who you are, or what you do for a living you’re still one with your countrymen.
