The answer to the government at the time was the field of public administration. The nations elected officials left it up to large group of trained professionals to insure the day-to-day operations of the government while further developing the nation’s economy. Today, the federal government employees hundreds of thousands of citizens across the world. Their roles shape the very outcome of our nation’s culture and a success. However, as the nation’s government has grown and expanded the ordinary citizens has been left in the cross hairs between the elected and appointed officials who govern this nation. In 2015, the United States Government through its environmental protection agencies drafted and imposed rules which have virtually destroyed the coal mining industry. This has effected dozens of rural communities that depended on the jobs from the production of coal. However, the destruction of the coal industry came from the hands of public administrators acting on the laws of Congress. These laws allow for agencies within the government to draft and impose new regulations without approval as long as they are within the letter of the law. These process does allow for citizens and business to voice their concerns which is protected through the administrative procedures act. However, the nature of public administration is political since those who shape the regulations report to and are appointed by the elected officials. The United States Government has a clear system of check and balance but control over regulations and resources continue. When public administrators are granted to much or too little power their status among the citizens changes. Currently, under the executive branch public administrators have been granted sweeping authority and access to effect change and impose new
