The commission is the process where the writers can start doing their work, based on the pitched ideas.

Commissioning Editor
The Commissioning Editor has had the job to look over scripts to see if they are worth being commissioned. Commissioning editors would have had previous experience as assistant editors, researchers and even runners to get their position as a commissioning editor. Different commissioning editors will be used for different genres, for example, a different person will be selecting ideas for horrors to the person selecting comedies etc. Also have to ensure the writers deliver typescripts which deliver on time and are precise. For example, if the script is set during the future, the writer will then want to research what people think the future will look like, how people would talk and how people would live then. The more research that the writer does, the more authentic the production will seem. If the writer doesn’t do its research correctly the audience may be offended or put off the production.
The Script editing done during the production is done by a script editor. Feedback is given to the screenwriter on how he can improve the script. The screenwriter doesn’t have to make these changes if he does not agree, but it is best to. Instead of pointing out problems with the script editor will help the screenwriter to identify the problems and help improve the overall script.
The Directors and Producers input in the final screenplay can ruin how the screenwriter pictured it. The Director pretty much has the final say on how the production will be so if he pictured the production differently there may be disagreements between the …show more content…
Professional presentation is essential when presenting scripts to literary agents and commissioning bodies. So for example, if you have an amazing script with a fantastic idea, but do not present yourself in the correct manner the commissioning boding or agent may not even take you seriously and wouldn’t want to look at your script.
Agent representation (in terms of script writing) is when a script writer is represented by a literary agent.
This means the agent assists the writer in negotiation deals and is paid by receiving a percentage of the writers money earned which is usually between 10-25%, depending on how much the client and the agents agree on how much the fixed percentage is.
A scriptwriter benefits if they have an agent because many companies only want to commission scripts from writers who are represented by an agent.
A lot of the time, companies go to agents when looking for a new writer. This gives writers that are represented by an agent a higher chance of being employed and getting their scripts
