The key to solving issues arising from medical errors is the timely acceptance of the occurrence of the error. The error should be acknowledged soon enough and the apology offered to the patients and their families. The effectiveness of the disclosure is sensitive execution of remediation process as well as timing of the disclosure itself (Foss, 2011). Besides, the circumstances leading to the error must be established. Therefore, an evidence based Uninterrupted medication administration (UMA) strategy consisting of color magnet system where in a color magnet is placed next to the name of the nurse administering the drug on the notice board to alert the others to not interrupt the nurse would be an effective strategy to reduce medication errors. For the successful implementation of this strategy, it is essential to obtain support from the key stakeholders like the higher hospital management, physicians, nurses, nurse assistance and other healthcare workers. This support would be obtained by addressing all of their concerns explicitly and effectively so that resistance from the management and healthcare workforce of the health organization can be avoided. It would also be prudent to demonstrate an appropriate rationale for the selection of the proposed strategy to the stakeholder’s as well as to explain why the strategy is essential for the healthcare organization. In order to acquire approvals, the key stakeholders would be enlightened regarding the importance and effectiveness of implementing the proposed change and how the change would be beneficial for the organization as well as for the stakeholders.
