Before he was getting into Brown University, he needed to wait with a knot of tension because he was on a wait list. Even, also, when he decided to go to Carnegie Mellon for PhD, he could not get into that university right away. He received reexamination through the efforts of his Dutch uncle Andy Van Dam. Because of these kinds of experiences, he could realize the significance of “Never give up.” Additionally, through disclosing the stories of his hard time he wanted to teach us how he dealt his difficulties. We heard a lot of times the word “Never give up.” It is quite a hackneyed saying. However, it means that it is as important as that. We have experienced big and small size of difficulties, for example, one of my difficulties was a relationship with my friends, and we will also face the hardships a lot of times in the future. I realized that if we gave up there would be nothing, but if we did not give up there would be a result anyway. Randy learned the significance of not focusing on the hardships, but purposes from many people, and he also figured out give up is a useless thing in our life as he could get a degree through not give up. Lastly, he learned the importance of asking for someone through his experiences. For example, he just contacted with Fred Brooks Jr who was famous for computer science. These were the most instructive lessons that I got from this book: The last lecture and I am pretty sure that even if we just engrave only these three things in our minds, our lives will change much better than now. However, if you feel the three lessons are too many, just remember one thing. Don’t give up. Even though we spend our time without perfect plan, we can still challenge. If we are scared to ask for someone, we can still handle our questions by ourselves anyway, despite it is harder than just asking. However, if we give up all the things, there will be nothing in your life any longer. Of course, we are going to face a lot of challenges as always in our lives, and we do not need to handle all the things perfectly. I just want to say have solid minds, and do not give
