The discovery of evolutionary principles first took place in western Europe. The discovery was made possible by the major advances in scientific thinking. Aside from this, it must also be known that Western science borrowed many of their ideas from other cultures. The Arabs, Indians, Chinese, and Ancient Greeks had previously developed their own ideas about biological evolution decades before Charles Darwin.
The Modern Synthesis changed how the theory of evolution was understood. It emphasized the genetic part of the theory theory. Speaking about evolution …show more content…
There have been countless studies performed that relied on genetics to successfully support the aspects of this theory. As it was mentioned before, the first step in attempt to understand the modern synthesis of evolutionary theory, or Neo-Darwinian theory, is to understand the history of evolutionary thought. The modern synthesis of evolution combines many different subjects together to create this theory. It also has the benefit of having many years of research supporting it. Today, the evolutionary theory combines the “original” Modern Synthesis with an understanding of DNA along with cellular chemistry. Without the help from Gregor Mendel and Charles Darwin, this theory might not have ever been thought of and we would not have the understanding of evolution that we do
