Understanding The Big Bang Theory By Candice Bergen

The video understanding the universe, narrated by actress Candice Bergen, truly captured my attention. I found it very interesting because it explained very hard topics that were easy for me to understand. All the experts on the movie, used great examples to depict the unbelievable dimensions of the universe and its fascinating nature. I was able to look at the biggest telescopes on Earth, including the Hubble Space Telescope. Besides, I learned about stars, galaxies, clusters of galaxies, about light years and the interesting history of early astronomy as well. Moreover, I heard the idea of a growing universe, which introduces the concept of the Big Bang Theory. I even listened to the hissing sound of the universe, which the video calls “The echo of the Big Bang”. (Understanding the universe,2012). In addition, I heard about the concepts of black holes and supernovas. …show more content…
According to the video the universe is so vast that researches use special notation to write out distances. A fact that really surprised me was that the nearest star, Proxima Centauri is 25 trillion miles away from us and its light, the fastest thing in the universe, takes 4.24 light years to reach us! One among the many interesting things I learned in the video is that the sun is bright only because it is closer to us than other stars. It is explained, how the sun is one of the billions stars in the milky way galaxy, and a more surprising fact is that this is just one of some fifty billion galaxies! The narration describes the sun as a pot of nuclear reactions boiling beneath its surface. Sadly, one day it will die…. just like us (Understanding the

The first day of school in 8th grade, I walked into my science class and Mr. Davis told everyone to get a sheet of paper to write on. The assignment was to write about the creation of the universe, Mr.Davis along with my Principal would be reading our papers to see our writing abilities at the beginning of the year, and then we would write the same paper at the end of the year to compare them. We had three options--the Big Bang Theory, The Oscillating Universe Theory, or The Accelerating Universe Theory... None of which, I believe in. I sat in my chair, staring at the blank sheet of paper, not knowing what to write.…

In this episode of ‘The Big Bang Theory’ we see that they use all the basic formulas of a sitcom. We see 4 conventional scientists that can’t talk to girls and make Star Wars references and 1 dumb blonde. This works well for the show because the references in the show are easily relatable and the characters have witty one-liners to laugh at. The directors and writers write the stereotypical characters pretty well, but they’re very predictable. The startling first scene was when Leonard and Sheldon had to bring an object up the flights of stairs and into Penny’s room.…

One night, when Carly was twelve, she went outside to watch the stars go by in the enormous sky. She paid particular attention to one star that seemed to be the brightest of them all. It seemed so bright that it would be visible from every place in the galaxy. That dazzling star came down from the sky and started to speak to Carly. Carly couldn’t understand what it was saying because, not only was she in shock at the unbelievable star, it was speaking in a very soft and slow voice.…

The Big Bang is how humans nowadays believe the earth was created based on scientific experiments and theories. The theory states that a singularity was created, which is a zone that defies our understanding of physics (The Big Bang Theory - An Overview, 2015). Eventually this expanded creating a viable universe for life. The universe is constantly expanding creating new stars and other spatial objects that are needed in the universe. Tiny micro organisms formed on Earth that over millions of years started to evolve and became more complex.…

This essay is more of a battle within yourself, the sentence “Everything has its compensations” stands out to me I consider this to be the main idea of the text. Last autumn I found myself among the mountains of Tibet, wandering through the high desert created by the rain shadow of the mighty Himalayas, looking up at the cascade of unblinking stars that stretched across the night sky. The stars, in their steady glow, revealed a rather strange sight that I could best describe as being both disturbing and fascinating at the same time. It felt like they were giving me an exclusive window to look at the inner workings of the world and everything in it. According to the scientific community, the universe began its "life" roughly 14 billion years ago when space, time and even the atoms in our bodies formed in less than a blink of an eye.…

The study and understanding of physics, both classical and modern physics, are often difficult and sometimes, impossible to explain. Often times, the curious mind is told an answer that provokes three more questions than they had before. The ever growing questions about the universe all those who study physics have been brought about by both the expansive and incomprehensible size of our universe and the inability of the human brain to fully comprehend the world around us. Philosophers and scientists alike have spent years attempting to provide answers but have been incapable of finding the truth.…

(2)According to Chris LaRocco and Blair Rothstein article 15 billion years ago there was an explosion called the Big Bang that created the universe. This explosion contained all the matter and energy of space. Unlike other explosion like a bomb that throw fragments outwards the Big Bang filled in the space with particles of the embryonic universe. Before the Big Bang galaxies were clustered together but the explosion created space and foundation for the universe. Edwin Hubble is the brain behind the Big Bang he made the observation that the universe is constantly expanding.…
