Conclusion
The hypothesis stated that, “If the amount of water a seed receives is increased, then the amount of seeds that sprout will increase because seeds need water to germinate.” The hypothesis was supported however it is also refuted because, the amount of seeds that germinated declined in numbers at 100 drops/hour. Whereas before it increased for 0 to 71 from 0 drops to 75 drops/hour.The refined hypothesis states that if the amount of water a seed receives increases, then the amount of seeds that germinate will increase ta decrease at a certain level, because under watering seeds will yield them unable to germinate, and over watering them will drown them.
Throughout the course of this project, I have learned about how plants germinate and about the impact of over watering and under watering plants. This information is important because the amount of water would be important in calculating the ideal amount of water to bring on a ship, keeping weight in mind.

The impact of under watering plants causes it to dry out, wilt, and if not watered in time, ultimately die. Under watering a seed will cause the coating around the seed to not dissolve, and be unable to germinate (Frost). Over watering plants have similar concenquences. The plant will wilt, yellow, but it could also have an edema when overwatering the plant. An edema is when the roots absorb so much water that the cells burst and form leisons (Restuccia). Seeds sprout by absorbing water, which bursts the seed coating, which is called imbibition. The seed then goes through respiration, which is resuming the metabolic activity in the now hydrated seed.
