New York City is well known for their dense population, extensive transit system, and low rates of car ownership. Questions arise if it is necessary to have Uber in the city, which may be increasing pollution. Why make Uber more available when people are already willing to take the readily available transit system, which cuts down on pollution.
I have never had first hand experience with Uber, but several of my acquaintances have used Uber quite frequently. Uber is a great transportation system that is easy to use. In order to use Uber, an individual downloads the app on their phone, and the GPS on the app tracks down the closest Uber driver for that individual. Uber is a cheap alternative to taking a taxi, and requires no cash. All payments are done over the app by connecting a debit or credit card to the app. Despite my lack of experience with Uber, I do believe that there are benefits of having Uber available. For starters, it is a cost efficient way for people to go out with friends for a drink, and get home safely.
