Convenience offerings are just that convenient, these are normal everyday goods that buyers purchase frequently, such as eggs and milk, generally shoppers do not go out of their way to buy these products, consequently, they pick these items up at the most convenient place. Additionally, products are normally available through limited channels such as couture clothing. Coco Chanel comes to mind with her exclusive perfume formulation called Chanel no5. Another example would be high end jewelry such as Tiffany and company. Specialty goods require marketing the brand name and building up the reputation, often through the use of an extensive ad campaign. (Tanner & Raymond, 2010, p.118-119) For some wealthy consumers specialty offerings are the only purchases they will consider, since these are advertised as the best or have a mystique about the brand. The only time I have ever been able to afford any specialty items were second hand, I have been the lucky recipient of a Blue Fish Dress which was popular in the 80 's, which I found at a thrift store very reasonably priced. Now Blue Fish clothing is available on the internet so the mystique has passed. This might not even qualify as a specialty offering, but it is as close as I have ever been to any sort of specialty offering.
