The activity focuses on objectives and goals for each student to accomplish. The students had assessments done, while doing the activity. Overall the activities were a great experience that I can take and use with my own classroom. The observation and activity was done on April 14, 2016 at 10:00am. Observation: Rise Program Physical Setting Rise is a beautiful facility. All of the windows looking into the classrooms and looking outside are my favorite because they provide light, openness, and a sense of connection throughout the whole building. The commons is also a great area. It is large and open for all of the kids to spread out and explore their surroundings, while engaging in gross motor activities, such as going down a slide, riding a tricycle, or jumping on a trampoline.…

Introduction: How Children Succed p.xiii&xv In this introduction I was surprised on how they are having three year olds filling out worksheets and completing drills on letter and number recognition (Tough, 2013, p.xiii). I did notice when my son went to transitional kindergarten that what was expected from him was what a kindergarten back then would be learning. When he went to kindergarten he was expected to know more than what I remember was required before.…

On Friday May 13 I was able to observe two P.E. classes at Mt. Stuart Elementary. There were two sections which I observed, first group was a 1st grade class and then a kindergarten class. It was a very cool experience, since I don’t remember P.E. classes back when I was young. One thing I enjoyed was the teacher’s enthusiasm when the students walked into the gym. He welcomed each student with a smile and with excitement.…

To begin, I believe to train or teach a student who is a little more advanced than the beginner students, teaching them has to be really particular in how to develop the student. It is first important to gauge exactly where the student is in their play level. You should inspect their form and how they approach the instrument. When they are playing snare drum, evaluate the strokes and height of their playing. While a student maybe great in their execution of a piece, it does not necessary mean their form matches their playing level.…

To my surprise the article you shared with me stated, “Introduction of formal academic instruction in the preschool years may not be in the best interests of many of our children, and in fact, may be damaging to some of them in the long term. I suggest that early childhood curriculum and teaching methods are likely to be best when they address children’s lively minds so that they are quite frequently fully intellectually engaged”. After reflecting on these words, I realized, there is probably a reason why these games and activities are implemented in Ms. Wills’s classroom. What I appreciate more in this classroom is the blend of both formal and informal instruction. During morning meetings, students actually learn rigorous academic content, such as addition, subtraction, word problem, etc.; however, during stations, they either work with an adult or on their own to explore different activities…

Spending two and half hours in each classroom, I learned a great deal about early childhood education from ages birth through eight, and the effort and skills that it takes to create a stimulating learning environment. For my infant, toddler, and preschool observations, I spent my hours at the CCC Childcare Center located in our college while for my kindergarten, 1st grade, 2nd grade observations, I spent my time at Casey Park Elementary School. During my observations at the CCC Childcare Center, I learned plenty about the methods and practices that go into early education before primary grades. The preschool classroom really stood out to me because the centers in the classroom were very open ended and filled with lots of manipulative for…

SEP #4 In my observation of a Kindergarten class, there were many different teaching methods used. The teacher used many visual aids, and example would be when she asked the students to draw a pig. She displayed a pig on the board that was drawn by a guest speaker, and the students were asked to replicate the drawing. The teacher I observed also used games to enhance the student’s learning.…
