Active immunity produces antibodies that fight off pathogens that carry disease (Hall 158). Passive immunity happens when a person is given antibodies. Passive immunity is acquired when the antibodies come from another source other than the person's body when they are fighting pathogens (Hall 158). There are two ways to gain active immunity.
