In the following essay I will talk about the movie Twelve Monkeys and about James Cole, the main character. At the beginning of the movie, they tell us that 5 billion people will die because of a deadly virus in 1997. In the future, the survivors were living underground including James Cole. He is a volunteer to go time travel to the year 1996 in order to find the army of the twelve monkeys because they thought they were the ones who spread that virus.
In this essay I will talk about James Cole and answer to the questions: Is Cole crazy? Is he sane? Also, I will talk about what happens to the main character throughout the movie.
As we see in the movie, most of the nights, he had the same dream, but this dream was something that was going to happen and was his own death. He dreams this because he had lived and seen this at the airport when he was 8 years old and when he used to live in the earth. His childhood was ruined because of the deadly virus that spread all over the world, so he was forced to live the Earth and live underground. So, this deadly virus changes James Cole´s life because it looks like his childhood was good, until this happened.
