Physical Environment- Based on the places I have travelled Tuscaloosa County, this area offers a wide variety of environments. The county has multiple lakes and parks along with urban and suburban areas as well. Out of 67 counties in Alabama, Tuscaloosa ranks 24th when comparing physical environment. With an air pollution level of 12.7, the county boasts a lower pollution level than the state average. Nonetheless, 18% of the population struggles with severe housing problems, which is 3% higher than the average. (countyhealthrankings.org)
Education- The Tuscaloosa County School System includes 34 schools: two primary schools, seventeen elementary schools, eight middle schools, six high schools, and one center for special needs students. Outside of this system, the county has four additional privately funded schools. A community college, a liberal arts college, and a university also reside in Tuscaloosa County. For the rest of the community, the Druid City Hospital system cares for patients from the surrounding areas from its Northport and Tuscaloosa facilities. Bryce hospital is also located in Tuscaloosa, which is one of the state’s leading mental health hospitals. Aside from these major facilities, the county also provides numerous easily accessible urgent care clinics and pharmacies.
