Trust is the feeling of confidence that can be represented in two dimensions, personality and competence. Personality often includes sincerity, conscientiousness, integrity and motive. In case of competence we are looking at the capabilities and skills of the leader. Both are equally important in the trust development process. It was a new challenge for me in which I had to prove my competence, judgment, and leadership abilities. Unfortunately, my overreaction to the problem and my quick judgment misguided me. A soldier had a personal issue which had to be taken care immediately. So as a good leader you always take a good care for your subordinates. Subsequently, I took him immediately to my superior, explained him the problem, and granted a leave for him. The soldier never had a personal issue and he got arrested after 4 hours that he left the unit. The following-up process was even more embarrassing for me. However, there was one person always ready to stand next to me, my battalion commander. He said, "You did a great job lieutenant, you took care of your subordinate and you could not predict what would go wrong". A simple phrase changed everything.
