In the 1820s the Black War was beginning, it was a time of violence between the British colonists and Aboriginal Australians in Tasmania. In 1829 the Black War was such a big problem that something has to be done.
Augustus Robinson a government-backed conciliator was set out to capture all independently living Tasmanian Aborigines and convince them to move to an island close by. He convinced the Aborigines to do this by promising them that they would be provided with blankets, food, houses and their customs would be respected.
