As a part of my junior portfolio, I got the chance to job shadow Dr. Troy D. Smith at Mulvane Animal Clinic. I was required to be at the clinic at 8:00 A.M. on Saturday October 15th, and Wednesday October 19th. Also, I was not required to bring money or a lunch because on both days I was there I left at 11:00 A.M. Because I have wanted to help animals since I was little I wanted to job shadow a veterinarian. While I was on my job shadow I got to experience many procedures, and assist the doctors. When I first got there on Saturday October 15th, I identified a roundworm in a fecal sample through a microscope.…
I'm impressed with the collaboration the ER doctors I work with have and think it would be a great introduction to the field. After gaining experience, I plan to open my own practice. Owning a pet is expensive, and I hope to provide efficient healthcare to different social classes by finding plans for different budgets. Lastly, I want to use my veterinary skills to help underprivileged communities around the world. I recently visited Nicaragua and the number of emaciated animals, of all species, was alarming.…
The career that I want to be is a Veterinary Technician and Technologist. To become a Veterinary Technician and Technologist, you have to have an Associate’s Degree, a high school diploma, or a GED. The college that I want to go to for being a veterinary technician and technologist is Auburn University. To become a veterinary technician and technologist, you will have to learn how to prepare for surgeries and assist veterinarians with the surgeries. In addition to that, you will also have to take care of the animal´s after the surgery, like giving the animal´s food and water, making sure the stitches are healing correctly.…
I participated in ROC Animal Care, which was definitely a helpful step closer to my career. In my course at ROC, I gained knowledge of the basic veterinary terminology and many other concepts, but most importantly I obtained hands-on experience at a real vet hospital. Additionally, the job outlook is expected to rise 30% by…

It has several animal hospitals in close proximity of one another offering a wide range of the same veterinary services and procedures which keeps them in competition with one another. Competition isn 't necessarily bad, it helps keep costs down and forces businesses to do the best they can, (Intile, 2015). Resource Analysis Pleasant Grove Animal Hospital’s staff is dedicated to providing quality health care as well as helping pet owners understand the best way to care for their pets. Not only does the clinic provide medical services, they also offer an array of services such as: grooming, boarding, medication and pet supplies. For as long as I can remember, going to Texas A&M Colleges Station to become a Veterinarian has been my dream and goal. Having always enjoyed working with animals, small and large, I knew getting working experience would help me to achieve this lifelong goal of mine; I began to volunteer at a Veterinary clinic. It was very exciting working in an environment that I loved, and after a year of on the job learning the doctor hired me as a part-time employee. As time passed and I became closer to my co-workers, realizing not all of them shared the same beliefs or experiences as me. It was difficult at first to learn how to sustain my beliefs while respecting theirs, but I stayed strong and still have the same perspectives and feelings I began with.…
I am interested in becoming a veterinarian because I want to be able to devote my life to helping animals. I have always enjoyed doing what I can to help animals or learn about them. I believe that if I become a veterinarian I could make a difference in animal's lives and their owners. I believe that every animal deserves to be taken care of with love and understanding just like a person. We have fourteen animals at home.…
If one were to ask a young girl want she wants to be when she grows up, she would proudly say a princess, or maybe a rock star. I’ve never been the typical girl though and my answer was always different. Some days I wanted to be a dog trainer or a zookeeper and being a marine biologist wouldn’t be too bad. In middle school I realized what all these jobs had in common; animals. I knew whole heartedly that I wanted to work with them, to improve not only their health and welfare, but also that of the community they were in.…
At Herman vet clinic we learned several thing about ow to handle and care for cattle. Blood draws, handling, castration, injections and identification of cattle are all different from that of small animal. Hen I I rats began this class, I figured large animal would be about the same as small animals, but certainly that cattle an horses were handled the same at least. What I have learned however is that each animal is very different from the next with each presenting with their own complications. Here are just a few of the major differences between cattle and small animal.…
Through owning a veterinarian clinic and an interactive swine boar stud, I wish to provide as many job opportunities as possible for the community. Even though these academic and career goals are far fetched, I am fully committed to do everything possible to turn these dreams into a…
Power Animals have been around for thousands of years. The importance of a power animal allows people to feel closer to nature and allows them to know something about themselves and in a since gives them a personal connection to the world. The power animal that influences me the most would have to be the wolf. The wolf has attributes that apply to my life and I connect to the Wolf in many ways.…
With respect to a article published recently, officers from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) say that studies looking at the effects of drugs in juvenile animal populations in opposition to their effects in adult animals are usually not helpful in guiding pediatric clinical development, particularly if such research hold up the launch of a clinical trial. The authors of the article, John Leighton, Haleh Saber, Gregory Reaman and Richard Pazdur, of US FDA's Office of Hematology and Oncology Products (OHOP) in the Center for Drug Evaluation and Research, arrived at their conclusion following analyzing data from both publicly accessible and non-public juvenile animal studies presented to the FDA to support pediatric oncology research. FDA and ICH Guidance In 2006, FDA released its guidance, Nonclinical Safety Evaluation of Pediatric Drug Products, to assist sponsors design non-clinical research in animals to evaluate whether drugs' effects are distinct in children in comparison to adults, in scenarios where it would be unethical or complicated to evaluate in pediatric studies.…
Some positive aspects about being a veterinarian is that you can help animals, you save lives and you affect people who love their pets in a positive way.. This career works with animals in a different variety of settings. Most veterinarians specialize in working with small animals or with a variety of animals in zoos, or wildlife parks’ (education-portal.html). Another good thing is the pay but it also has to deal with where you live and what type of animals you work with. Just like there’s good things there’s also bad things.…
Have you ever had a experience of finding an animal, adopting them, and caring for them until you can find a home for them, I have. As a kid me and my friends would always play vet, to us it didn’t matter if we were “caring” for my hermit crabs, fish, hamsters, dog, or stuffed animals we still “saved” their lives. Now i’ve joined horseback riding due to my love of animals. We have to care for the horses before and after our rides. I definetly want to have a career in caring for animals.…
