Tropical Rainforest
The Tropical Rainforest is a really interesting ecosystem. Did you know that the rainforest in southern Asia stretches 3,100 miles on 20,00 islands. Did You also know that some plants in the rainforest can help treat cancer. The tropical rainforest is home to some weird and endangered animals.
Location
Tropical Rainforest can be located in north South America,west Africa, southern Asia. It stretches from Peru and goes through the Amazon basin to the end of east Brazil. In west Africa the rainforest starts on the west coast to central Africa. In Asia the rainforest starts in the south and stretches 3,100 miles on 20,000 islands. Europe is the only continent without a tropical rainforest.

Examples of carnivores are the Harpy Eagle, and the Vampire bat. The name Harpy eagle comes from Greek mythology. The Harpy eats monkeys and sloths,They stay up in the canopy and are rarely seen flying in a open space. The vampire bat’s face looks like a pig. The vampire bat sucks blood from birds and mammals. They share the blood with other bats in its colony. If it doesn’t eat for two days it will die.( www.blueplanetbiomes.org )
Cycles Within an Ecosystem
Carbon starts as a solid. People dig them up in the form of a diamond or coal. When coal is burnt it turns into carbon dioxide and goes up into the air. Then a plant takes in the carbon dioxide and mixes it with water and sunlight and makes it food and oxygen. When the plants die the decomposers break it down and the carbon goes back into the earth. Environmental Issues
In Tropical Rainforest people are cutting down trees and taking animals homes. Taking animals homes will cause some of them to die out and go extinct. Illegal gold mining is ruining the rainforest by poisoning the water that the animals and the people that live near or in the rainforest. (“Tropical Rainforest.” earth matters,2008.
