Diversity is the force of many dimensions that become the building blocks to numerous organizations existing. People from different genders, ethnicity, national origin, and sexual orientations make up for the diverse workforces that did not exist due to discrimination and other societal issues that created a barrier for companies. Now, as a society, we have managed a great amount of diversity through implementing laws and allowing global experiences that has created corporate culture a thing for the future and limitation of opportunities based on your dimensions a thing of the past.

As easy as it may sound on a personal level, diversity has been a set challenge in the workforce over many years. The changes in demographics for the labor force, employment in legislation and legal actions, and increasing the globalization of businesses is what’s trending to keep a diverse work environment standing (DeNisi 2011).
Trends in Workforce Diversity We have set trends in organizations today that has increased the amount of diversity with the many different dimensions. The changes that we have made in our demographics in the labor force is one of three of the trends that has helped to result to this outcome (DeNisi 2011). For example, women and minorities have changed the outlook of size and layout, allowing more organizations to expand and create more jobs. Also, because women and minorities are working with men, it has helped to bring more awareness and improve the qualities of their hiring and promoting regardless of their characteristics. There still is a mindset in certain male dominated positions in which they feel as if a female should not be allowed to get the same opportunities as them and vice versa (Japlin 1997). Another major problem is that high and middle class white employees and employers did not want to allow African American and other minorities to have the same opportunities as them. The clash between the races have been a recurring problem that ranked at the top for problems in the workforce. Certain African Americans felt as if their white supervisors were extremely prejudice towards them (Wall Street 1998). Minorities felt as if they were not getting certain positions due to their ethnicity or religious backgrounds. There were even issues in the workforce when white employees were being turned down from certain companies ran by African Americans and other minorities. Diversity was an issue between the sexes, whether the pay gap or offensives actions between males and females that took place (Forbes 1999).
