According to [3] toilet flushing and clothes washing are the biggest users of water in any house, and about “70 liters of drinking water and 44 liters of waste water can be saved per person per day”[4] by the treaded Graywater method. The treatment processes for Graywater include three main stages: screening, pre-treatment, and treatment. First, the gray water is filtered and stored in a tank. The storage tanks is designed so the large particles settle down at the bottom, while the oil and grease rise to the surface. Then the water is pumped through an aerobic process then chlorine and iodine are added to aid in microbial digestion. Those chemicals

Fighting Back Against Water Pollution Water pollution needs to be reviewed as the increase in toxins in possible drinking water has increased in the last 20 years. Through the use of our technology and use alternative renewable energy sources, re-evaluating our usage and methods of disposing waste preserving both fresh and marine water in the United States. A common discrepancy that is brought up when discussing water pollution is whether the cost will become too large to even begin creating change, that the amount of resources required to implement could be used elsewhere for a more immediate impact. The discussion of environmental problems is a topic of many political debates, but throughout the years scientific evidence has documented the…

For gravity type filtration systems, the filter medium can be mechanically or chemically driven to remove contaminates. The most common methods of contaminate removal for filtration medium mechanically remove large particulates, adsorption, absorption and redox or chemical reactions to produce safe drinking water2. Porous filter medium allows more medium surface area to interact with contaminates in the water as well as to create smaller pathways to mechanically remove particulates within the medium. Therefore, it is important to assess what the capabilities of each filter type to identify the best filter medium to help remove or reduce specific…
