Since an early age, I have always wanted to be involved with health sciences, and I have work as hard as I can to accomplish this dream. I was born into a Hispanic family, and raised in way that puts values ahead of money or economic status. In Julia Alvarez’s “Bilingual Sestina” demonstrates the difficulty in being bilingual and having to adapt to a whole new language or culture. To get this point across Julia Alvarez structures her poem in a sestina pattern, however giving her own spin off to it by incorporating Spanish words. As a junior at Northville High School, I am already discovering my passion for business through my participation and leadership roles in organizations such as DECA. I have obtained not only extensive marketing and general business knowledge through self-studying for competitive tests, but also practical communication, presentation, and sales skills while representing various business professionals in judged roleplay scenarios. My project consisted in broke a cultural norm about language. I visited some shops whit the idea to speak in Spanish and not in English with cashiers at the moment to pay for some of my items. Once I graduated from high school, I made the decision to participate in Clark Atlanta University business program in order to receive my bachelor’s degree in business with a concentration of international business and marketing. Being raised by first generation immigrants, I have learned to value the dreams, aspirations, culture, religion and perspectives of all people, regardless of their racial, ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds. I grew up in a Persian culture and have been taught by my parents to respect and value the wide variety of cultures and beliefs. A major factor in how my parents instilled the idea of respect for others in me was by regularly attending multicultural programs in San Jose, San Francisco, Oakland, and Berkeley, California.
