Training Facility Supply Chain Analysis

I found it somewhat difficult to decide on what type of business I wanted to start. My major is supply chain, so I tossed around a few ideas related to logistics and warehousing. I could not decide, so I finally thought about what I really loved. I have been passionate about sports for a long time. I have played baseball or softball for 19 years. I have played indoor and outdoor baseball in Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, Oklahoma, and Texas. I have also played in South Korea. This led me to the idea of building an indoor field and training facility. It actually first came to my mind just a few months ago. My men’s slow pitch softball team wanted to get some batting practice over the winter. We did a google search for an indoor training facility in my area. To my surprise, the closest one was over an hour away. I began doing some research as to why there weren’t many indoor facilities in my area. The only reason I could come up with is that these types of facilities require a large initial investment. The climate in Ohio is not ideal for these facilities, but it is better than most. We will hold hitting, fielding, and base running clinics. We will also hold softball, baseball, and soccer leagues as well as indoor tournaments. Academy sports will offer live batting cages, equipment sales, and meeting rooms. Academy Sports will specialize in developmental classes, clinics and camps in an array of sports for children to adults. Our focus is to develop the complete player with the technical, tactical, physical, mental and social skills necessary to succeed.
