I. Introduction
1. Hook: Most adults in our country obese. This is also an alarming statistic showing in our children. Research shows that when you have obese parents their children are more likely to be overweight as well. This trend needs to change.
2. Thesis: Obesity is a huge issue in the worldwide and in the United Sates, understanding the significance and consequences of this problem is the key to eradicating it. My paper will address obesity, what it is and what causes the problem. Then it will address the causes of obesity and the health issues that accompany the epidemic. • Cardiovascular disease involves heart disease and congestive heart failure.
• Asthma can be a cause for people to exercise less, which can promote weight gain, but people who are obese may have a difficult time exercising which may lead to asthma. So it’s a little bit of a catch 22. If you have asthma you can’t exercise but if you have asthma is can be difficult to exercise.
• Sleep apnea is a very common disorder in the obese population where you have one or more pauses in breathing or shallow breaths while you sleep, in other words you stop breathing in your sleep which can cause other health problems as well.
• Strokes caused by being overweight can lead to a buildup of plaque in your arteries. Eventually, an area of plaque can rupture, causing a blood clot to form.
• High Blood Pressure: Blood pressure is the force of blood pushing against the walls of the arteries as the heart pumps blood. If this pressure rises and stays high over time, it can damage the body in many ways, when you cause harm to your hearth there is very little you can do to fix it if there is any sort of death …show more content…
These children are less likely to get out and play any type of sport. Going outside and getting some kind of physical activity for thirty to sixty minutes a day would be more beneficial for children than just hanging around the house.
· Schools give children many options to choose from, but again this plays into habits and making the “right” choice for you and your life style and how active you plan to be.
· Parents should also take some of the blamed for childhood obesity in most cases in that can transfer obesity into adulthood. Children learn by example, so if their parents are obese then they are three times as likely to become obese.
