In this case, we need to figure out what makes Belgium stand out from other European countries. One reason for me is Belgium being the most strangest European country in the world. No doubt it has the most complicated political system and geographical landmarks. A typical response that you hear when someone says they are visiting Belgium is WHY? But no matter what you are looking for such as family enjoyment, quite and peaceful time in the rural hilly landscapes, spectacular gourmet dishes, year round music, dance, or beer festivals (Over a 1000 kinds of beer are brewed in Belgium. Belgian beer is believed by majority connoisseurs to be the best in the world), view of magnificent buildings, dreamy SPAs and resorts, or just pure escaping from reality trips. The liberal order ruled Italian politics from 1860-1922, and centered around the long standing tradition of trasformismo, coalition forming to develop a flexible, centrist party. Unfortunately, this system had the potential for tyranny by the majority to run rampant, which allowed the rise of fascism in Italy. The liberal order existed in a parochial political culture and a church that did not support the government. It allowed for oligarchic rule in a highly centralized, corrupt state, a dangerous combination. Numerous other centers of power, like the mafia, undermined the legitimacy of the regime (Bull, Newell 2005).…

Giving me the opportunity to have a broad vision of how bonds could be created within two countries, without having to abandon my heritage.…

Transfixed, I stared at the headlines on my monitor. Within hours of the 2016 Brussels bombings, media outlets and pundits declared Belgium a jihadist haven. Geographically distant, Belgium was—and is—easy for many Americans to view through the lens of terrorism. But as I delved deeper into Belgium’s history, my fascination with the country and the tension between its politically and linguistically distinct regions of French Wallonia and Dutch Flanders only grew. With a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant award, I will teach English, a politically neutral language in Belgium, to Belgian college students.…

How would you feel if you traveled to a country where there were parties on the streets, families enjoying life, laughter all around and the majority of people are actually happy? Here people are happy, but you don't see happy people too often, because most people only care about money.
