Living in different states was very interesting, especially if you have lived in different parts of the country. Moving around applies to my past because I have lived in five states, each having a different climate. Since I am the person who moved and experienced different things, I am a person who likes adventure and to try new things. I want to go travel and explore different parts of the world in my life. On my totem pole, the symbols that represent me are stars, a brain, and an owl.

Owls are restless spirits in the past. They can become very outgoing, but they do exaggerate. This represents me because in the past, I was very outgoing around people. I do exaggerate occasionally, but only if I'm around family. Owls are honest. I tell the truth to everyone I know. They look for the best in people and in life. In life, I try to look for positive things that could help me. Looking for the best in people is something I try to do so I don't think negative towards them, but everyone does have their own opinion about others. They love to be adventurous and want to try new things. Throughout my life, I have always tried new things. No matter where I'm at, I will want to try something new, even if it's something I'm not even sure I might like. In the future, I want to travel to new places and around the country, so I can experience new things. They also want to look for knowledge. I love to learn new things and I want to have a great job in the future since learning helps with our futures. Owls have many traits about them that we can learn from, and they are incredible animals of the night.

To conclude, my totem pole includes stars, a brain, and an owl. The stars symbolize hopes, dreams, and many other symbolic terms that help during life. My brain helps represent me by telling me who I am and who I want to be. An owl symbolizes me for being honest and adventurous in my life and that I want to try my hardest. With having to live in five different states, each with a different climate, and always experiencing new things, I have become an adventurous, try new things type of person. To this day and on, I will always be proud for who I am and who I want to

Even though it is not directly said Ultima is the owl it is perceptible that the owl symbolizes Ultima’s soul. The owl is seen multiple times throughout the book soothing, protecting, or keeping watch over other characters in the novel. It has that sense of a positive connotation. Antonio explains how the owl alleviates his fears when he says “I realized that the owl had been with me throughout the night... Suddenly the terrible fear that had possessed me was gone,”(Anaya 23) and also when he mentions “ But not Ultima’s owl.…
