Restructuring is the process of changing an organization’s structure (Colquitt, LePine, & Wesson, 2015). This is exactly what the Giants are dealing with right now on their offseason. All of the players are used to Coughlin’s defensive driven plan and his attention to detail personality. Changing the team’s structure into an offensive driven team the player’s along with the other coaches have to adapt to this new style of coaching. Restructuring has a slight negative effect on task performance (Colquitt, LePine, & Wesson, 2015). Meaning that the performance of the players will not dramatically decrease with the change in coaching. Organizational commitment will be more strongly effected in a negative way because players may experience stress or lose trust in this new program (Colquitt, LePine, & Wesson, 2015). A great example of this possibly occurring would be quarterback and team captain Eli Manning. The only coach Manning has had in his professional career has been Coughlin. In 2004, Coughlin became head coach and Manning became quarterback. Manning and Coughlin worked together for twelve years comfortably. Trust is the willingness to be vulnerable to an authority based on positive expectations about the authority’s actions and intentions (Colquitt, LePine, & Wesson, 2015). Restructuring is based behind two ideas, realizing the need to change and then actually adapting to the change. The New York Giants have not been playing the way they use to in these past season. Noticing this, the organization recognized that a change needed to happen. In Buggy’s article, readers saw McAdoo’s fresh new strategies to help and improve the team’s performance. A main strategy that was mentioned was changing the Giants from a defensive driven team to an offensive driven team. Also changing the team’s schedule and strength and conditioning philosophy is another new strategy McAdoo brought to the team. A company’s strategies are important because they are the goals the organization want to accomplish to get the outcome they want. Hopefully with these new strategies available to the Giants we can see improvement during next season and possibly during
