The Tokugawa Shoganate period was the last primitive Japanese government which lasted between 1603 and 1867.
The leaders of this government were the shogun and each shogun was a part of the Tokugawa clan (being Tokugawa Ieyasu being the first shogun ruler).
As part of the systematic plan to maintain stability the social order, was officially frozen and mobility between eight classes was prohibited.

During the Edo period, there was piece and when there was war the prices on items would of gone up, and the peasants would of died of because they’re not making enough money (some peasants were the farmers, would of made tons of money selling rice, but not all peasants could do that and it also would of effected, farmers because they would not want to farm, while a war was going on would you) and could not survive but when peace arises the prices were lowered on many things and they would of being making more money and farmers would start harvesting again.
There also were increased trades, marketing, transport and city growth in the Edo period due to the fact there was peace and people weren’t afraid of their safety as much so they will go outside more and purchase or trade a lot more items and there would have been more corner shops stalls (due to the fact that the cities were bigger) with a different selection of items and people could also travel more to buy items to also sell items on the road example: if you are tired of wandering around and you’re thirsty and hungry and you have some money a wandering peasant could appear and sell you some
