Again, I very much like your reader response as it is outstanding and meaningful. Undoubtedly your thesis statement is marvelous. Indeed Alexandra character plays a vital role in Scout’s life. And yes the children shows a mysterious feeling about Radley Boo in the novel, as they only heard the rumors from fellow town member about him. Their curiosity increased because Mr. Atticus and other elder warned them to not get closer with the Boo’ s house and this warning drag their attention toward him and his house more.…

Censorship: Is Ignorance Bliss? The issue of censorship has been a long debated topic that has become more widespread over time. It forces us to discuss what could potentially be offensive to someone or a group of people and omit details to avoid controversy. In some instances censorship is taken to the extreme and the slow build up of said omissions can lead to bigger societal issues.…
While there are many instances of justice and injustice in To Kill a Mockingbird, the cases of injustice Scout witnesses and experiences are the most prominent. Examples of injustice are when Scout is told she is not allowed to be taught to read, when Uncle Jack berates Scout, and when Tom Robinson was accused of rape. The first time Scout experiences injustice is when she is informed by the teacher that she is not allowed to have her father teach her how to read anymore. Miss Caroline strictly believes that she is the teacher and that the students are to learn from her.…

In the book “To Kill A Mockingbird” by Harper Lee, there is always reference to the quote “It’s a sin to kill a mockingbird”. Individuals tend to simplify life into the concept of playing cards and Josh Billings would prove the point valid with his statement, “Life consists not in holding good cards but in playing those you hold well.” Evidently, there is a fault in his quote which is the balance that life attempts to achieve by producing its ascends and descends. While realizing the exceptional cards that the opponent acquired and the lousy cards that was provided to the individual through repetition, the brazen pursuit of the dealer to favor one side becomes apparent. The dealer is no longer the blank canvas that display the equal opportunity for all men to illustrate their distinguished traits, on the contrary, rejects those who are different from their values…
Atticus continuously tried to embed correct morals into Scout and I. One of the things that has stuck with me forever, is when Atticus said, “You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view… Until you climb inside of his skin and walk around in it.” Each time I meet a new person, I have considered myself in their shoes. I have learned to better grasp people’s life style by thinking about what Atticus said. Atticus once commented, “Real courage is when you know you’re licked before you begin, but you begin anyway and see it through no matter what.” This is when I truly realized why Atticus had accepted the Tom Robinson case.…
“Growing old is mandatory. Growing up is optional” (Chili Davis). As the quote explains how aging is mandatory and maturing is not for everybody, it ties into Harper Lee’s To Kill a Mockingbird and the growing up process for many characters. In the novel To Kill a Mockingbird, Harper Lee portrays growing up by showing how characters that matured, have a fresh look at the world accordingly criticizing its flaws.…
Harper lee demonstrates her view of Alabama in the 1930s through three main points: gender, race and education. When exploring each of the three points Lee uses characters with 2 dimensional personalities (the exceptions being Scout, Mayella Ewell, Aunt Alexandra and The Cunningham.) Lee's characters fit into one archetype from each of the following character archetype pairs (black/white, rich/poor, kind/nasty, educated/illiterate). At each the introduction of each character Lee establish's them as either a "good guy" or a "bad guy". When exploring race, Lee uses characters who share traits such as being educated, kind, illiterate or mean but differ in their ethnicity.…
(page 39) One of Atticus’ central roles in this book is teaching Scout important life lessons, and not only does he preach these lessons, but he practises them too. “So if spitting in my face and threatening saved Mayella one extra beating, that’s something I’ll gladly take.” (page 218) Atticus is facing great adversity, and yet he still makes it a point to be a respectful figure that his children can look up to.…
