Chapter 18
- She will blatantly lie - just like her father. She doesn't care if someone else is hurt by her actions - particularly her lying. She also manipulates people to get what she wants, which is like her father:
- Mayella first "burst into tears when Judge Taylor asked her to just tell the court what had happened between her and Tom. The judge quickly realises that Mayella is not used to being out in public or questioned by others, and he treats her accordingly.
- Mayella has never been spoken to in this manner. She is only familiar with her father's harsh and often crude talk. So when Atticus talks politely to her she thinks that he is making fun of her.
