To Kill A Mocking Bird Quote Analysis

“You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view-until you climb into his skin and walk around in it.” This is a quote from Atticus in the story where he explains to Scout about understanding the reasons people act the way they do toward others. Resembling the quote, I chose to shadow my father. My father is a CPA and a contractor. He is a very hard worker and deals with all kinds of people from clients regarding their tax returns to sub-contractors wanting to get paid. Because he is a very likable and respectable man, I look up to him thus I chose him to shadow. I shadowed my father for eight hours and learned some of his quotes, the way he acts, and how he speaks. My family and I went to the beach with some friends for two weeks and this is when I chose to shadow my dad. After getting some fishing bait one morning, my father, two friends and I went fishing in the inner coastal. I learned what they meant and how to use the quotes correctly. Atticus’ advice to Scout means more to me now because I have a better understanding of what he meant after shadowing my father. I feel that Atticus was trying to teach Scout that all people are different and that she should not judge people from what she observes until she has seen things from their perspective. This has made me think about what to say to people before I say it and try to look at the situation from their perspective. My advice to my peers is to do the same. They need to put themselves in the other person’s shoes and look at the situation from their perspective before saying something they may
