1) A kid is brought to Manuel and Bobbie, who are paramedics, and is in very poor condition. Ed Regis brought the kid to them and claimed he was hurt in a construction accident while working on the resort, but he clearly looked mauled and he even manages to mutter the word “raptor”.
2) A girl named Tina explores a beach in the Cabo Blanco Reserve in Costa Rica and she gets attacked by what she believes is a lizard; almost one foot tall, walking on it's hind legs and it appears to have three toes.
3) After Dr.Cruz has spoken to Tina and her parents about the attack, he decides to get Guitierrez, who works in the biological station, to further investigate the case.
4) Guitierrez ends up finding a dead lizard that fits Tina's description and he sends it to New York to be tested for diseased by Dr. Richard Stone.

They talk about how he has been doing odd things lately, such as looking at sites in the north, giving support to cold weather digs and buying large amounts of amber. This also leads to a conversation mentioning how Donnald Gennaro, the legal counsel for InGen, contacted Grant regarding questions about the eating habits of dinosaurs and he wanted Grant to write a paper on it for a very large fee, but Grant called it off.
