HYPERTHYROIDISM-
The term hyperthyroidism refers to increased synthesis and secretion of thyroid hormone by the thyroid gland.
The term thyrotoxicosis mean the clinical syndrome of hyper metabolism and hyperactivity due to excess T4 ,T3 or both.
The clinical manifestation is independent of the cause of thyrotoxicosis. However,certain features like duration of thyrotoxicosis, the size, shape, and texture of the gland and the presence or absence of tenderness and extrathyroidal manifestation of Graves’ disease. In Graves disease the symptoms usually been for at least several months.
