I went into an African American Cultural shop. I felt love for ancestral culture, I support small business owners, especially black owned businesses. I know not many other ethnic groups support African American business owners, so I think it’s my duty as an African American to patronize our community’s entrepreneurs. By going to a cultural shop, it brings me a sense of pride and history, this balance is associated with happiness.
Thursday, October 12, I texted an old friend from high school, whom I haven’t talked to in months. She responded,” call me I’m driving”. We talked, laughed and talk some more. Then I heard a man’s voice in the car, I asked who was that, she said her son. I was completed surprised, I welcomed her son home, and offered him a few words of encouragement. The young man was incarcerated for 3 years, and returned home this month. After church I usually treat someone to lunch. This Sunday we had a third service, 4pm so it was KFC this time. Displaying love isn’t always monetary, it’s showing a friend or stranger, I have their best interest at heart. My nephew, Collin 14 years old received his first cell phone, he is monitored for online activity and didn’t see the importance, economically, and unmonitored phone activity. My hope is that modern day technology don’t corrupt his brain, by having so much accessible to the entire world, when the brain is still developing.
