Theme Of Foreshadowing In Things Not Seen

One day before leaving for high school, Bobby Phillips told his parents that he was invisible. Bobby’s parents did not believe that he was invisible until Bobby proved it to them. Because of his condition, Bobby’s parents directed him to stay at home until he was visible again. For a while, Bobby stayed at home. However, he became so bored that he decided to walk to the library. While at the library, he literally walks into a blind girl, Alicia. After explaining his invisibility problem to Alicia, Bobby and Alicia began trying to solve his invisibility mystery. In the book foreshadowing was the most effective literary element to find. In the book Things Not Seen, the genre is Magical Realism by Andrew Clements, there are three parts of foreshadowing are Alicia’s father came to the library and found out that Bobby was invisible, The Cook County Board of health might have arrested Bobby’s parents, and Bobby going to Sears to steal information about the electric blanket.

Once Bobby and Alicia's father found the cause into Bobby’s invisibility, they wanted to wait around to see how to solve the answer. With not that many days left until his parent might get arrested Bobby and Alicia took action. They both called Sears to ask about information but the workers wouldn’t tell them anything. So Bobby came up with decision and go to Sears and still the information. Which at first Alicia did not agree with. The foreshadow was that Bobby would go to Sears and steal the information. My prediction was right Bobby did go to Sears and got the information he needed with the help of Alicia. This foreshadow was obvious because Bobby did not want his parents to go to jail, so to solve his problem he had to do something
