Life happens outside of the desk and while Jefferson’s plan for education looks great on paper it might be hard to apply in real life. Unlike Jefferson, I would like to apply the arts into our education more. People can learn through the arts and I know education and fun and expression can all be hand in hand. As Bill Beattie has said, “The aim of education should be to teach us rather how to think, than what to think—rather to improve our minds, so as to enable us to think for ourselves, than to load the memory with the thoughts of other men.” I think adding in creative ways of expressing one’s self or problem solving would improve our schools
