Chinua Achebe, an African author and professor, constructed the African cultural novel, Things Fall Apart, in 1958. Achebe successfully delivers the values of the Ibo people through the main character Okonkwo, his life, and thrilling events entwined in the story through a delicate selection of diction. Achebe creates a feeling of authenticity in Things Fall Apart through his consistent Ibo language placed in the novel. Things Fall Apart uses the Ibo words for events, people, and names of objects such as; chi, ogbanje, and egwugwu.
