Thicker Than Water Book Report

Narrative Introduction: I know that drug abuse can be dangerous. Whether the drugs that are being abused are prescription or street drugs, they can turn into a disaster. This topic really came into interest after watching a television series on netflix called One Tree Hill. In the show a women had become addicted to prescription drugs. She could not help herself so she had to enroll herself into rehab. She got the help she needed, and decided to leave the facility. After she left, she began to use again. After watching this show, I’ve realized that after you get started with drug abuse, it is really hard to quit and become clean. Not only did this television series interest me, but the book Thicker Than Water had an impact on me personally. In this book, Cyrus, one of the main characters, got addicted to prescription drugs. The addiction started because of an injury, and the fact that he could not play soccer. He went to a bad doctor who prescribed him oxycontins. Cyrus became addicted to this drug and continued to go back to the same doctor to get more. He tried to get the help that he needed, and he got clean for a while, however, that might not have been enough. One thing that really helps people after abuse is exercise, because exercise improves physical and mental health while making people feel good about themselves (“Right Path Drug Rehab” 1). There are ways that people can fix their drug abuse by themselves. A very common activity for getting over abuse is yoga due to the fact that it is relaxing and allows people to create a new sober mindset (Right Path Drug Rehab 1). Relaxing your brain can be a big step to recovering from abuse. There are multiple ways to recover from drug abuse, people just have to be willing to put in the time and effort to get
