8. Thermoregulation is the process in which your body regulates hypothalamus to sense normal body temperature.

9. Hypothalamus is what sensors the body temperature.

10a. The two mechanisms the body uses to cool itself are the blood vessels in the skin dilate to radiate heat and the sweat glands increase sweat production.

10b.The two mechanisms the body uses to heat itself are the blood vessels in the skin constrict, reducing heat loss and the muscles begin to shiver, generating heat.

11a. The stimulus is the hypothalamus senses that temperature is too high.

The response would be the blood vessels in the skin dilate to radiate heat and the sweat glands increase sweat production.

11b. The feedback loop is negative because it's bringing the body temperature is going down.

The stimulus is the hypothalamus senses that the temperature is too low.

The response would be that the blood vessels in the skin constrict, reducing heat loss and the muscles begin to shiver, generating heat.

12b. The feedback loop would be positive because the body temperature is going up.

13. Example; You're driving a car on the road you have to stay at a certain speed limit of 40 or 45 mph. When you're driving you can't drive too fast because you'll get a ticket, but you can't drive too slow because you'll get a ticket as well. You have to stay at a good speed limit so you won't have to get a ticket.

13a. Yes a positive feedback loop will be helpful in maintaining homeostasis, because if you're driving too slow you will have to increase your speed.

13b. Yes a single negative feedback loop will be helpful in maintaining homeostasis, because if you're driving to fast a signal would be sent to tell you to slow down.

14.The stimulus is the hypothalamus releases oxytocin.

The response would be the uterine walls contract and the baby pushes against the

Temperature control is the process of keeping the body at a constant temperature of 37°C. Our body can only stay at a constant temperature if the heat we generate is balanced and equal to the heat we lose. Temperature receptors in the skin detect changes in the external temperature. They pass this information to the processing centre in the brain, called the hypothalamus.…

Passage 1: “The leading explanation for cold diuresis — the need to pee when it 's cold — is still pressure; but not external pressure, internal pressure. The theory is that as blood pressure climbs in the body 's core because of constriction in the extremities, the body signals the kidneys to offload some of the extra fluid.” (Chapter 2- A Spoonful of Sugar Helps the Temperature Go Down) Enduring Understanding: 2.C Feedback mechanisms are implanted in all types of organisms and become present most often when there is a change in environment.…

    1. Mark’s initial reaction of becoming red and sweating was a negative feedback reaction, from his body, to the heat. The human body can function properly in a certain temperature range. If the temperature of the internal environment rises above the acceptable range, the proteins in the body begin to denature. The body’s senses detect this temperature change, sends a signal through the afferent pathway to the integration center(brain).…

When a person is suffering from a fever, a pyrogen is inserted into the hypothalamus signaling a potential threat in the body. The hypothalamus increases the setpoint of the overall internal temperature as a defense mechanism against bacteria. Because the hypothalamus is constantly increasing the set point of the body’s internal temperature, the body feels cold and shivers as it constantly attempts to gain body heat through shivering and vasoconstriction. Body chills are caused by the muscle rapidly constricting relaxing hence the person’s shivering. The body is attempting to gain enough body heat until the bacteria is eliminated and can no longer harm the body.…

Heat is produced in the body by cells, Every cell in our bodies produce heat as they burn up energy. Some organs will be on more than others, such as the brain, or muscles if you are exercising and then they get hotter. Its needs to be spread around the body, this is done by blood. It heats up some organs and cools the others. Axillary, rectal, and oral temperature readings increase 1-2 degrees fahrenheit during increased physical activity.…

To understand how homeostatic mechanism regulates the human body’s temperature, we must know and understand the organization of the human body and how it relates to homeostasis mechanism adapting to the external changes, such as the weather. It will be explained how the stimulus, receptors, integrator, effector, and the different tissue types play a key role in how the human body responds to changes in temperature. The human body is complex and consists of several levels of organization (Ireland, 2013, p. 21). The process of homeostasis, homeostatic mechanism, and thermoregulation all intertwine to correctively maintain body temperature.…

Summers may mean unlimited sun fests and while the weather allows us to walk along the beach and sip that mango smoothie while lying comfortably on the sand, let us also take into consideration our beloved pets and how they will become comfortable amid the scorching temperature. If the high temperature can be unbearable for humans, imagine its extent on animals that have thick hair covering their body. Understand that domesticated animals are not trained to adapt to the harsh environment as much as those that live in the wild. While we are specifically designed to sweat, most animals like dogs and cats use panting as an indication of the high temperature of their surroundings.…

Excess heat loss is accomplished by the process of vasodilation, the expansion of blood vessel size, which allows for increased blood flow toward the skin’s surface (Boundless). The increase of warm blood at the skin’s surface allows the body to release heat from the skin through radiation (Boundless). The increase in body temperature also prompts the production of sweat, which cools the body as it dries by whisking heat away through the…

The body finds itself too hot therefore, that is the stimulus. The sensor is notified of this information and consequently sends the information to the brain in this instance to direct a response to the body to fix the problem. This would mean that the blood vessels would dilate and sweat glands would secrete as sweating is the body’s natural way of cooling itself down. This would then have a negative feedback and the body would then return to its’ regular temperature. The same goes for if the body was too cold, then the blood vessels would constrict and sweat glands would be inactive.…
