ALS has been affecting athletes for a long time now, but research and medical diagnosis have not been studied as much now as it was back then because of the lack of recent technology and understanding and knowledge about what the disease is and why athletes are more prone to getting this disease. In recent studies by medical professionals show that younger athletes are more likely to get this disease at a younger age due to the underdeveloped brain unlike an adult whose brain has already reached the maximum level of maturity. A major factor in why athletes are getting this disease is because of the concussions or any type of (BTI) regardless of what sport is being played, but in this case football would be the most popular because of the amount of trauma and impact they are exposed to in each game. When a player receives a hit or blow to the head, the brain is jolted around the walls of the cranium causing the brain to release a toxic proteins in the brain called TAU that cause the brain to slowly deteriorate the motor neurons which allow us to move. Concussions and Head Trauma are two different things that many people confuse because of the similarities between them.
