I agree with that to a point because I like things a certain way, I like organization, and I like structure. These are all reasons why I am in the Military, it defines me and I am in my comfort zone. I am even flexible because I recently went on a vacation with three other individuals and did not plan a thing and it didn’t bother me one bit, I simply went with the flow. I can go with the flow if my employees do not tell me things that are important to the mission until after the fact, or ask me to cover their duties last minute because they have an appointment, it just rolls off my back. I do see myself being inflexible when some situations do not go my way or personnel do not understand what I am saying or my thoughts are not coming out correct. When I feel myself getting frustrated, I end up sitting there, shutting my mouth and nodding until I can gather my thoughts. During these types of scenarios, I am inflexible and then I start zoning off, doing breathing techniques and waiting until it passes. Having a flexible management style will aid in my work life balance and allow others to strive for the same thing. Being flexible to the situation and taking advantage of the hours, you might have at the time. Being in the military, change happens so you need to be flexible. Sometimes, nothing seems to go right so hurry and wait. With having the flexible approach, I am able to adapt and respond to situations easier (p19). As for having an inflexible management style the cons would be being closed minded, not being open to new ideas and hearing what others are trying to say and do.
