Reinforcements are something that happens to a behavior that causes the behavior to strengthen or increase so that is will continue to happen. A punishment on the other hand something that stands in the way of the behavior that causes it to decrease in behavior if it follows it. Upon watching the roommate for the first week we saw that he enjoyed going out with friends, and he enjoyed spending hours playing videos games. These will be used in our positive reinforcements. When he achieves a better time or gains a few inches in muscles he will be allowed a half hour of video games. Now, let’s say he didn’t gain the said muscles we were looking for that week he then would have to add a half hour onto his work outs doing more strength training routines. This will not only help him get into the pattern of working out eating right, but also get it in his head that he needs to do this in order to see the results he is looking for. We will also be using positive reinforcement of word of encouragement when he reaches a goal. When doing his daily drills we will be using negative reinforcement telling him he can’t do it in order to get him to prove us wrong.
After the end of the month he would see the change in not only his body but also in his daily routine. It now has become embedded in his head as a pattern that he is use to now. When we continuously do the same things over and over again it now has become a habit. Using both positive and negative reinforcement makes us not want to give up. Picks us up when we are down with rewards and using words of encouragements. But a negative reinforcement makes us want to prove people that they are
