A) Neuromancer and Cyberpunk Film
In the famous novel “Neuromancer”, written by William Gibson, was one of the first pieces of literature to introduce Cyberpunk as a subgenre within science-fiction. One major component within cyberpunk, deals with augmentations that are put upon the human being both physically and virtually. To put in perspective, one perfect example of augmentation that appears in Neuromancer, puts forward a character named Molly who has mirrored eyeglasses, razor sharp blades that extrude from her fingers, and a heightened sensory input. Moreover, in relation to class, we are presented with numerous examples of augmentations that relate to themes in Neuromancer. For example in the movie “Johnny Mnemonic”, Johnny has a brain-mounted hard drive that allows him to discretely store cybernetic data. Just like any other hard drive, there is always a capacity limit and Johnny must be careful of overloading or there may be deadly consequences.
