Even though they know it’s not really their place,
But the actors can lighten up the room, and it should be known,
As they walk in with their way too small costumes and the true grace resting on their faces.

Whenever musical actors waltz into the dining rooms, they glimmer,
The glassware shines like red solo cups when compared to these individuals,
It’s amazing how much hard work theatre kids put into their parts so the rest of the cast can shimmer, the fun times and memories hold dear could almost be called criminal.

Anthony Holmes woke up on April 20, 1999 around 3:00 pm in Omaha, Nebraska. At the time, he was employed by the Air Force, working night shifts that lasted from 6:00 pm to 6:00 am. He went to work, and that was where he would learn the horror of what had happened earlier that day.…

If the Newseum is torn down, the first amendment will not have a place to be celebrated just for itself, so there will be no place to celebrate the first American Constitutional freedom. President Trump is pressuring Congress into passing a bill that will start a project to make room for new monuments. The project will consist of tearing down monuments that the government feels are unnecessary. The project will ruin DC and the American spirit. If the bill does pass, the Newseum should definitely not be torn down since it is a reminder of what America is, it will have horrible economic effects on the country, and tearing it down will diminish the American spirit.…

Good afternoon everybody, I am here today because I need to talk to you guys about the incident that has just happened. You so called hunters stole my glasses because you needed them to make a fire and that was very mean of you to do that. All of you are becoming incompetent because you are following Jack as your leader, he is an idiot and all he tells you to do is go hunting and dance around a fire like a bunk of cavemen, it's ridiculous. [Booo! yelled the crowd.] If we are to survive on this island and go home we need to start getting some order, we can’t have a leader who is just wanting to do the fun stuff all the time.…

Dear Dr and Mrs. Demann, as the year closes to an end I am delighted to reflect on Tessa's greatest triumphs and points of growth. Starting in my first months of teaching Tessa, each day she entered our classroom with an eager smile, thirsty to present her ideas to her classmates. With our work on Twelfth Night, by William Shakespeare, Tessa demonstrated focus and interest in the classic. She shared her connections between each character and key themes such as irony and mirroring. For instance, she often pointed out how the series of connections expresses how love can affect one's actions.…

Over the centuries, theatre conventions evolved from the highly presentational performances of the Greeks to the extravagance of Elizabethan productions and eventually conglomerated to produce contemporary theatre. The University Playhouse’s performance of Acting: The First Six Lessons expressed this conglomeration of Greek and Elizabethan conventions through elements of presentational theatre, a non-localized set, and a supporting cast that functioned similar to a chorus or ensemble. This performance also altered conventions through the addition of female actors, use of representational aspects, adaption of the functions of the chorus or ensemble, and lack of a raised stage. In the following sections, I will discuss the adoption and adaptation…

The heat from the stage lights, the watchful gazes of the audience, and the sweat dripping off of our faces as we struggle to remember our lines, these sensations of being on stage are what caused the performing arts to become not only an activity, but also a passion and an unexpected source of personal growth. Through my experiences in drama and music I have been able to discover my own meaning of fulfillment and define who the person behind my appearance truly is. My passion in the performing arts started when I was a young child first learning to play the violin. Picking up the violin at the age of 6, I became stuck on one of the most basic songs for almost a whole year. At that time no one believed that I could play the violin, my teacher thought that I was too hyperactive and even my mom attempted to convince me to quit.…

When you see a teenager walking down the street, white earbuds firmly implanted, swaying slightly to their own inner grove, you can be pretty much certain that it’s not classical music they’re listening to. Teenagers I know can enthusiastically rattle off the name of a dozen bands on their current favorite playlist, but ask them if they know who Brahms was and a funny kind of glazed look comes over their eyes. Even my music students, who I’d hope would know better, are astonishingly unknowledgeable about classical music, and if they don’t even know the names of these composer, you’d better believe that they don’t have an recordings by them. The numbers for classical music consumption in general are, by any standard, frighteningly low.…
