To survive a nuclear war, you’ll need a fallout shelter that can support you and your loved ones for years if necessary. This needs to be an underground shelter complete with air filtration, plumbing, electricity, and supplies for years of life. Your main concerns when stocking the bunker will be water, food, and electricity. Your best hope for water will be to have a well drilled near your shelter and place the only access to the well inside your bunker. Well preserved food needs to be stored. MREs, dehydrated foods, canned goods, and dried or smoked meats are all good candidates. Heavy duty batteries and solar panels will be your best options for electricity. Solar panels need to be extremely well protected and back-ups should be in place in case of damages. If there is nuclear residue in the environment, you will not be able to leave your bunker to make repairs. Don’t forget entertainment. Staring at the same four walls for several years can really take it out of you. Bring games, books, and movies (if you can spare the electricity) and bring a lot of them.
