Since than David S. Landes has tackled the questions with a different approach and just like other writers Landes was able to come up with his own answer. Through Landes book he uses sources such as work written by others, research analysis date, and personal thoughts. In chapter twelve, Landers refers his influences came from The Protestant Ethic and the Spirit of Capitalism" which were books written by Max Weber. He also uses books John Hicks, A theory of Economic history, and Carlo Cipolla, Before the industrial Revolution to help to see if it could have made a difference in the way Florence industry grew in the fifteenth century. David S. Landes believes that culture plays a large run in the wealth of nations. In his research he found out that Western civilizations for the last 20 decades have dominated the world because of their culture. Landes explains many was how there is a gap between the wealthy and poor nations. Landes example was that a way a nation got wealthier was by conquering new lands and enslaving people to work, as you seen it happen in America.
