The Walkers: A Short Story

Great Essays
I hear them. The walkers. Snarling, shuffling across the ground. I'm safe, but scared. Scared for the worst, like they get in, we die. Am I safe? Don't know.

Amber sat there agazed, she looks so confused, helpless. It hurt me, I never saw her that way. I was scared for her. Abbi sat there plain-faced, she didn't look fazed, well I mean, I'm not either. Abbi's parent were upstairs, we could hear their murmurs,

"What are we going to do Robert?" Abbi's mom whimpered.

"I don't know, but you need to relax, you're going to scare Abbi, Sara, and Amber." he said firmly.

They came downstairs and we talked for a little. Trying to come up with a clear plan. We came up with this, If this house gets overrun stay with someone, then run to somewhere

I was terrified, the boards were breaking. Time to do the evacuation plan. RUN. We went through the back of the house. Not as many walkers but a bunch. They snarled even louder when they saw us, and began to growl. When you made in contact with their soft skulls they fell to the ground with a squishy noise, beyond gross, but I had no time to think about how nasty bashing walkers head into the ground are, they were everywhere. We ran down the street, and saw two girls, I knew them, it was Mikalah & Savannah.

"Hurry," I said. "They're coming, you can stay with us, as long as you fight and be strong,"

"Okay, okay, we'll come with you," they said.

"We need to go right now," I said harshly.

We ran. Fast. Far away. We went to a store, Walmart, we figured that there is food, water, and weapons(in the hunting section). We need to barricade the openings, two very large sliding doors. After that we looked around, no people, no walkers, just us. It felt great. I went to the grocery section, of course, I was beyond hungry, like always. It felt great having all that food, I ate chips, cookies, and so much more. It felt like paradise. Of course outside the world is falling apart, but inside Walmart I felt like it was a new beginning, which I knew it wasn't. We thought we were alone until we saw a kid, again I knew him, it was Luke. He was in all my classes in school before the world turned to

"It's Abbi, Amber, Mikalah, Savannah, and me of course." I said.

"You guys would never make it," he said as he laughed a little.

"Well, you won't make it by yourself either, so why don't you join our group, we might actually stay in Walmart for a while, or until it gets overrun. There's food, weapons, and there's resturants all over the place around here, we could be safe," I said with a sigh.

"Fine, I'll join," he said.

I told him what we were planning to do tomorrow, clean everything, and keep this place nice. We are going to get beds from that section and we have a bunch of TV's in the electronics place, maybe we could watch the news or something.

It's about 9 a.m. and we were cleaning, I went to the two giant doors and saw nothing, but I spotted a man, he had a big bag and a bunch of weapons, he looked badass. Wait, I thought to myself, Why would I want to be looking for a soulmate in a zombie land? I have no idea. He came up to the door.

"Is it safe in there?" he asked.

"Yeah, well maybe," I said confident, but then realized nothing is really safe anymore.

"Is it you, or just a group?" he asked.

"It's a group about 5 other people, we aren't that strong either," I said with

Knight Captain Jona Falx strapped his small sub-machine gun to the back of his snugly fitting Verian uniform as he stepped out of the comfort of the Verian Protection Embassy and onto familiar Cerinian soil. As was his custom and duty every other week, he traveled the insane, but less than time-consuming distance from Veris Alpha to their heavily influenced state planet Cerinia to check on his designated family. The Verian Kingdom and Cerinia’s top tribal leaders established this custom back when the dragonoid people first discovered the telepathic race of various blue furred canids and felids hundreds of years ago. Since Cerinia was still a land sprawling with conflict and brutal tribal warfare years before the Verians made their appearance,…
