There are many surveys done that show that adolescents 18-20 are the most common at committing rapes, assault, and robberies, followed by juveniles 15-17 years. The Uniform Crime Report has data that shows many crimes are higher with older teen than any other age group for instance murder, forcible rape, and robbery. In a criminological debate it shows that teens who are delinquents have more of a social friendship with other delinquents then with teens who are not. There’s a relationship between the two because friends usually try to impress each other or don’t want to let the other friend down so they do what they can to keep them happy. There are also times when they don’t want to look weak so they do things they wouldn’t necessarily do. My hypothesis for this research is Do friends have an influence on each other and on other adolescents? My null hypothesis is Friends do have a positive role on each other, and help each other make good decisions. The dependent variable in this research is delinquent friends and the independent is victimization. The Juvenile Victimization Survey gets reports on numerous forms of offenses against youth that covers five common concerns such as Child Maltreatment and Sexual Assault just to name a few. The survey can be done by either the parents or the child. This helps to focus on victimization of parents or of other perpetrators that are less likely to be discovered through regular questioning. This can be done by youth as young as 8, which is lower than most questionnaires. In this current study the number of respondents in the GSS study is
