After having experienced many branches of medicine, the fourth and final year is undoubtably the most pivotal year as students determine which specialty they would like to go in (Divita). After completing medical school, students take a three-step exam named the United States Medical Licensing Examination, USMLE for short. The USMLE evaluates a persons prowess as a physician. It is designed to measure their understanding of the knowledge, concepts, and principles that are important in evaluating a patients well-being and providing the proper care (“United States Medical Licensing Examination”).
